Low Flow Venovenous Bypass in Canine Orthotopic Liver Transplantation

Abstract

|
Although the flow of a venovenous bypass without systemic heparinization for liver transplantation could be over 1L /min to prevent fatal pulmonary embolism, our animals were well tolerable to low flow(less than 1L /min) venovenous bypass. The bypass flow in the ten animals was less than 1L /m, but they were well alive after operation. This study shows us that the flow of venovenous bypass without fatal pulmonary embolism could be far less than 1L/min.
